Synopsis

Set in 1922 Long Island, the story follows Midwesterner Nick Carraway moving into a humble cottage next to the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby. Amazed by Gatsby's extravagant parties and mysterious persona, Nick discovers Gatsby's intense quest to reunite with his former sweetheart, Daisy Buchanan. The story dives into unrealistic aspirations amid social pressures. Through soaring songs like "Roaring On," the musical weaves a story of passion, betrayal and unavoidable demise.

Creative Team

This outstanding production is put together by a talented team led by Ryan McCartan as the charming Jay Gatsby, Aisha Jackson as the ethereal Daisy Buchanan, Michael Maliakel as narrator Nick Carraway, Samantha Pauly as the witty Jordan Baker, Austin Colby as the overbearing Tom Buchanan, and Eric Anderson as the cunning Meyer Wolfsheim. Directed by Marc Bruni, with dynamic choreography by Dominique Kelley and an unique score by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen.

Adapted on F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 classic, "The Great Gatsby - The Musical" debuted at Paper Mill Playhouse in 2023 before making its Broadway debut in April 2024 at the Broadway Theatre. This version respects the novel's legacy while incorporating a contemporary musical flair, representing the first major Broadway staging of the story.
