Plot

Set in 1922 Long Island, the story follows Midwesterner Nick Carraway as he rents a modest cottage adjacent to the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby. Intrigued by Gatsby's lavish lifestyle and mysterious persona, Nick uncovers Gatsby's intense pursuit to reunite with his lost sweetheart, Daisy Buchanan. The story dives into unrealistic dreams amid social pressures. Via soaring songs like "Roaring On," the musical crafts a story of passion, deception and inevitable downfall.

Creative Team

This outstanding production is put together by a talented team led by Ryan McCartan as the charming Jay Gatsby, Aisha Jackson as the dreamy Daisy Buchanan, Michael Maliakel as narrator Nick Carraway, Samantha Pauly as the witty Jordan Baker, Austin Colby as the overbearing Tom Buchanan, Charlie Pollock as the downtrodden George Wilson, and Eric Anderson as the cunning Meyer Wolfsheim. Directed by Marc Bruni, with energetic movement by Dominique Kelley and an original score by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen.

Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 masterpiece, "The Great Gatsby - The Musical" premiered at Paper Mill Playhouse in 2023 before making its Broadway premiere in April 2024 at the Broadway Theatre. It won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Musical, celebrating its lavish 1920s aesthetics.
