So much happened in the land of Oz before Dorothy arrived, and luckily, we have Wicked to tell the story. One of the most triumphant plays in the history of the Broadway circuit is going to be staged inside Music Hall Kansas City on Friday 28th August 2026 at 7:30 PM as part of the North American Tour. Starring Jessie Davidson as Elphaba and Zoe Jensen as Glinda, the light and the darkness collide on the stage while some of the most memorable songs that you know and love from this classic resonate in the halls of Music Hall Kansas City. Before you know it, you're going to be immersed in "Defying Gravity" and "The Wizard and I." This is a performance that was perfectly crafted to be a stage show, and boy, does it stand out!
Perhaps one of the reasons why Wicked has been so successful both on Broadway and through these tours is that the story doesn't need a super elaborate stage design or gimmicks. Top-notch lighting and the fantastic costume designs, paired with some of the best actors to hit NYC, have been enough to lead this production to plenty of Tony honors and sold-out shows. Yet, since the story and the look and feel are well-known at this point, the audience isn't as tied to a specific element in production to experience Wicked. This makes it a fantastic option to see on the road! A perfect example of the opposite is the Tiger animatronic from Life of Pi. That's an remarkable engineering accomplishment, and it looks amazing when it works, but it's a little harder to take that show on the road. With Wicked, oddly enough, you don't need a lot to realize you've set foot in the land of Oz.
It can be a little tempting to grab a spot on the front row to experience Wicked live, yet people in the know say it's one of the poorer choices to see a show. There's a reason why the rich and famous used to sit in the boxes on the upper levels. Try to find a spot toward the middle of the theater, quite a few rows removed from the stage. The historic Art Deco Music Hall Kansas City offers excellent acoustics and sightlines throughout its 2,363-seat auditorium, with Orchestra, Loge, and Balcony seating options. Those seats will offer the clearest view of the land of Oz and the story unfolding between the witches.
Right now, you can grab seats to see Wicked for $84. This production runs approximately 2 hours 45 minutes with a 15-minute intermission. Click the "Buy Tickets" link without delay to make sure you don't overlook this performance.
